HTC Vive is crowned the best gadget in the world right now at the tenth annual T3 Awards

It’s award season in tech land, and the HTC Vive, the innovative virtual reality headset, has just been crowned the best gadget in the world right now.

Taking top honours at the 2016 T3 Awards, the HTC Vive took the coveted prize ahead of the great and good of the tech world.

One of three gongs handed to the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR rival, the HTC Vive was also crowned Gaming Product of the Year and Innovation of the Year at the tenth annual Oscars of tech.

Not the only company to walk away with a trio of awards from the night, Samsung also came out big winners, pairing the Brand of the Year and Wearable of the Year titles with the coveted Phone of the Year for the brilliant Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

“The past 12 months have, once again, not failed to amaze us,” T3 Editor Rob Carney said in unveiling the winners.

“VR has truly impacted in a big way, the connected home is becoming ever more commonplace, and the incredible strides technology is making have enabled 100% battery-powered cars.

“It only brings excitement to what the next 12 months hold for us all.”

With Digital Spy’s own Tech Editor Luke Johnson having been on the Awards’ judging panel, other winners included the Apple iPhone as Gadget of the Decade, and the Microsoft Surface Pro.

Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am was also on the roll call of award winners, taking home the Tech Personality of the Year award in association with Digital Spy.
