London Internet Exchange to Use IP Infusion’s OcNOS™ Network Operating System in New London Interconnect Platform

IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for telecom and data communications services, today announced that London Internet Exchange (LINX) will use IP Infusion’s OcNOS™ network operating system in their secondary London interconnect platform (LON2). After months of research and testing with new suppliers, LINX will adopt a disaggregated format for LON2 by leveraging the NOS from IP Infusion and the hardware from Edgecore Networks.

LINX, one of the largest operators of Internet Exchange Point (IXP) services connecting over 700 networks in over 65 countries, also announced that it will build the new LON2 architecture based on EVPN (Ethernet VPN) routing technology. The LINX solution, employing EVPN over MPLS, leaf-spine topology, full automation and 100G ready, is the first IXP in the world to adopt all of these new technology concepts and features.

Overall benefits, such as full-featured set and reduced TCO, influenced LINX’s decision to go with a disaggregated model with IP Infusion’s OcNOS network operating system and Edgecore’s AS7712-32X 100GbE and AS5812-54X 10GbE open network switches, over proprietary switch manufacturers and Ethernet switch solutions with proprietary network operating systems.

OcNOS is a modular, disaggregated, high-performance network operating system for service providers. The highly available and scalable OcNOS architecture is optimized for both physical and virtual environments, with extensive support for IP/MPLS routing, OpenFlow support, switching, and security.
