Nextbit Robin Android 7.0 Nougat Stable Update Starts Rolling Out

Nextbit Robin Android 7.0 Nougat Stable Update Starts Rolling Out

Nextbit has announced that it is now rolling out the stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat to all of its users after testing it for many months. The company first introduced the Nougat beta build in November last year, and many builds later, the stable build is finally rolling out.

This is in line with Nextbit’s promise to provide software support to Robin till 2018. Razer acquired Nextbit in January, and the sale on Nextbit Robin has since been halted. However, current users of NextBit Robin will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update in a staged rollout, so it may be a while before it arrives on your phone. But when you receive it, your NextBit Robin will run on Android 7.0 Nougat, build 88, with the security patch of January. Sadly, the latest security patch is not bundled in. Nextbit also suggests rebooting the device to find the latest build.

A leak in January hinted that Nextbit may also roll out the first beta build for Android 7.1.1 Nougat soon, as a Robin running on the software was spotted on GFXBench benchmarking website.

Even though NextBit’s assets and employees are now absorbed by Razer, the company claims that it will continue to operate independently within Razer. For now though, it has stopped selling the Nextbit Robin and its accessories. It also says that it will fulfil warranties for the next six months only, which means recent buyers won’t get the promised one-year warranty. As mentioned, software updates and security patches will be supported till February 2018.
