Police in Georgia identified the man who they say shot at a Roswell police officer as 21-year-old Victor Alonzo Majia Nunez.

Officer Brian McKenzie was not injured.

Police in Roswell say that McKenzie is white. Majia Nunez’s race was not immediately clear. He was taken into custody after a brief police chase. He has not been charged yet. The suspect lives in Riverdale.

Police said a motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately clear, and that the suspect is speaking with investigators but that his cooperation has been limited.

Police in an Atlanta suburb say a 21-year-old Georgia man will likely face charges including aggravated assault on a police officer after they say he opened fire on the officer from a passing vehicle.

The suspect, from Riverdale, Georgia, was apprehended after a short pursuit in Roswell, Georgia, early Friday. The Associated Press is not naming him since he hasn’t been formally charged.

Roswell police say the officer was on routine patrol when he was shot at shortly before 1 a.m. Friday.

Police said in a statement early Friday that the officer tried to stop the vehicle, and a short pursuit ended with the suspect crashing. The suspect was taken into custody.

Police said there were no reported injuries, and that no bullets struck the officer or his patrol car.
