The bezel-less Mi MIX was unveiled last year, and it grabbed a lot of eyeballs for its radical design. The company even launched the white variant at CES this year, and is expected to launch the successor sometime later this year. Now, a concept video (in the form of a GIF image) of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has surfaced online showing what all changes the smartphone will see, and apparently, the successor will sport a dual camera setup.
According to a leak by MyDrivers, the device is tipped to sport a dual camera setup but retain most of the design philosophy of the Xiaomi Mi MIX. It is seen sporting the same black ceramic back as well. A separate report does claim that the bezels would narrow down further with a screen-to-body ratio at 93 percent. The Mi MIX’s screen-to-body ratio is at 91.3 percent in comparison.
The leak also shows a fingerprint scanner at the back, refuting previous rumours of a scanner housed at the front. The Xiaomi Mi MIX, is additionally, also expected to sport an AMOLED display with curved edges on the sides to maximise screen real estate even further.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX was launched in October last year, and we can expect the same time frame for the Mi MIX 2 as well. Xiaomi CEO and Founder Lei Jun recently confirmed that the successor of the bezel-free Xiaomi Mi MIX is in the works already. The original Xiaomi Mi MIX was launched in two variants – 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage priced at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 34,500), and 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 39,500). Just to recall, the Mi MIX features a 6.4-inch display and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The smartphone sports 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. It also sports a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chats.
