If you ever wished you could create your favourite team’s kit and have the satisfaction – and indeed bragging rights – of seeing your club’s star players walk out onto the pitch with the jersey you created on, then Adidas’ new initiative is just the thing for you.
The sports brand have today handed football fans the unique chance of designing the third kit of some of the world’s biggest clubs for the 2017/18 season – with the best strips being voted on by the players themselves.
Supporters will be able to send in their kit designs for clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, AC Milan and Flamengo via Adidas’ new online portal, called the Creator Studio.
Once submitted, fans can campaign for their designs to be voted for by other supporters before the strips with the highest votes are entered into ‘Battle Mode’ – where the top 100 designs per club will be judged by players from the clubs themselves.
Speaking about the initiative, Real Madrid star Gareth Bale said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for fans from all over the world to make their mark on their favourite club, and to be a part of the club’s history.
“Madrid fans are some of the most passionate in the world and I’m particularly excited to see what the club’s winning kit design looks like.”
General football manager at Adidas, Markus Baumann, added: “We are giving people a blank canvas and allowing them to create something exciting and unique.
“The Creator Studio is an opportunity for fans to become part of the history of some of the biggest global clubs; it’s a true first.
“We hope the idea of seeing their design on field next year, being worn by the players and by fans around the world, will fuel imagination and creativity.”
