Al Jalila Foundation has received a US$1 million donation of software from Microsoft to help its charitable humanitarian and healthcare programmes.
Along with investing in medical education to improve the nation’s treatment capabilities, the foundation has developed a research centre focused on cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and mental health.
The software will upgrade the charity’s information technology with the latest Microsoft tools and applications.
The foundation’s chief executive, Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, said: “Every contribution, whether in the form of donations, expertise or products and services, is critical to our success.”
Since 1998, Microsoft’s donation programme has provided more than $3.9 billion (Dh14.3bn) of software to more than 60,000 non-profit organisations.
Samer Abu Ltaif, regional general manager at Microsoft Gulf, said: “We greatly admire the work the foundation has done, and continues to do, in the service of community health.
“We have selected the right tools so that they can concentrate on doing what they do best – making lives better.”
