Firmware development for Samsung Galaxy S8 has begun

According to a new report, Samsung has started developing firmware for the next Galaxy S flagship smartphone.

The report notes that the Galaxy S8 ROM that is currently being developed is only for a handful of countries (including the UK, US, China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, and Poland), although the list will grow once a stable build is readied.

Specs-wise, as per the latest rumor, the phone is expected to have two variants: one with 5.1-inch QHD curved Super AMOLED display, and the other with 5.5-inch UHD display. The bigger model will feature a dual-camera setup as well.

The flagship will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 SoC, although some markets will get an Exynos 8895-powered variant. It is also said to feature the Viv AI assistant, replacing S Voice. The device is rumored to be unveiled during a Samsung Unpacked event at the MWC on February 26.
