Worried that with all its focus onsmartphones and watches, Apple is neglecting its Mac line?
You’re not the only one. A concerned user recently reached out to Tim Cook via email to ask if the Cupertino tech giant is “pulling away from the Mac line.” Surprisingly, the Apple CEO responded, assuaging those concerns.
“I love the Mac and we are very committed to it. Stay tuned,” Cook wrote in the message, which was obtained by MacRumors.
MacRumors could not confirm the authenticity of the email, so it might just be that someone is trolling us all for their own amusement. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but MacRumors said the email “does appear to originate from Apple’s corporate servers,” based on the headers.
Apple usually stays mum about products in its pipeline. That’s not to say an Apple exec has never sent this type of informal response to a user.
Meanwhile, evidence of an upcoming MacBook refresh has indeed been mounting. 9to5Mac last month corroborated earlier rumblings that upcoming models will have “a Touch ID power button” and “OLED touch-sensitive function keys.” The updated laptops also reportedly feature a thinner design, new metal injection-molded hinges, USB-Csupport, and Thunderbolt 3.
Apple has not yet made any official announcements, but it’s expected to unveil the new models this fall, before releasing them in the fourth quarter in time for the holiday rush.
