Google is working hard on developer previews for Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but testing will soon be over as the official launch of the latest software has been set for Dec.5, according to the Australian carrier Vodafone.
The mobile network indicates its Nexus 6P model will receive a wireless update for the build NMF26F, which will take the device from Android 7.1 to Android 7.1.1 Dec. 6 . As Google branded devices receive the latest Android updates first, Nexus and Pixel devices should also be updating globally. Taking into consideration the time difference, U.S. Nexus and Pixel devices should receive the update Dec. 5.
The software should also be available wirelessly for U.S. devices, as well and through system images, provided by Google to allow for manual installation.
The current developer preview for Android 7.1.1 Nougat brings to the system App shortcuts, Google’s version of Apple’s 3D Touch as well as design tweaks like circular app icons and a more colorful keyboard and other updates.
Android 7.1.1 is expected to be the official software that OEMs will use to update their handsets to Google’s latest system version (instead of Android 7.1). However, it may be several weeks and months before unlocked and carrier models of non-Nexus or non-Pixel devices receive the update. Some devices schedule to update to Android 7.0 still have not received an update.
