Members of Apple’s macOS beta program noticed something new in the latest build of macOS Sierra: a handful of new wallpapers derived from Apple’s iOS 10 and MacBook Pro marketing campaigns. Part of Apple’s “Color Burst” design theme, the wallpapers are already available in iOS 10, but macOS Sierra 10.12.2 Beta 4 marks the first time that these images are available in full-screen glory on the Mac.
macOS Sierra 10.12.2 is expected to be released to the public next month, but for those unwilling to wait, you can grab the new Color Burst wallpapers from Imgur now. In addition to the familiar Color Burst designs, there’s also a new fourth macOS wallpaper called “Abstract Shapes.” Each wallpaper is available at up to “5K” resolution of 5120×2880.
The Sierra 10.12.2 update will be focused on under-the-hood fixes and improvements, with few user-facing features or changes. Aside from the new wallpapers, the primary new feature is the addition of enhanced emoji characters.
