Mourinho attempted to take Griezmann to Chelsea in the past – and the the striker has risen into the elite bracket of world football since then.
The report says Griezmann is already aware of United’s interest and although he is under contract until 2021, Atletico Madrid are seen as a selling club in the right circumstances.
Mourinho believes the 25-year-old would be a sensation in the Premier League and is said to have, through third parties, made his intentions clear to the player and positioned United at the head of the queue.
Griezmann and Pogba will line up for France against Belarus on Tuesday.
