That’s according to new media sources today who have reached out to Sony, asking for comment on how the news across the pond could change things in the UK and EU.
And at the moment, it appears nothing is planned. Fans will not see a PlayStation Plus price increase in September in the UK, however, there is no guarantee beyond that.
It is unclear if Sony are planning a similar price hike in other regions later this year; there were similar changes made to PS Plus charges in the UK in 2015.
Sony changed the price of some of the one and three-month costs for a UK PlayStation Plus subscription last year but didn’t make any moves to up the retail on the one-year subscription deal.
Starting on September 22, 2016, prices for PlayStation Plus memberships will change to $59.99 USD/ $69.99 CAD for twelve months and $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD for three months.
It should be noted that those who buy the current membership plans before the change dates will be spared the increase.
PlayStation Plus September 2016 will see a price increase in North America
The PlayStation Plus Price increase has only so far been confirmed in the United States and Canada.
“Starting on September 22, 2016, prices for PlayStation Plus memberships will change to $59.99 USD/ $69.99 CAD for twelve months and $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD for three months,” a message from Sony explains.
“The monthly plan will change to $11.99 CAD in Canada, and remain $9.99 USD in the U.S. If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date.
“PlayStation Plus strives to enrich your PlayStation experience through a world-class service built for our fans. This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the U.S. and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010. The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members.
“As a member, you will continue to enjoy the benefits and features that enable shared experiences, such as online multiplayer, free games, and exclusive discounts. You will also continue to get exclusive benefits such as online game save storage and discounts across the PlayStation digital services.”
It follows the news that the official PlayStation Plus August 2016 roster of titles has been changed.
Retro/Grade, the PS Plus game offered in this month’s PS3 lineup, has been revealed to have been included in a similar deal in 2012.
Sony have now confirmed that they are replacing it with Tom Clancy’s EndWar from UbiSoft, which is now available to download immediately.
“We would like to apologise for an error that led to Retro/Grade being offered as one of this month’s free to download games on PS Plus,” a message posted on the EU PlayStation Blog reveals.
“We have now looked into and addressed this issue to ensure that it does not happen in the future.”
